About the Event
This program will provide participants with an understanding of fundamental compliance and performance-related roles and responsibilities of not-for-profit directors over two days.
The program consists of:
- Duties and Responsibilities of the Not-for-Profit Director. Gain an understanding of the role of the not-for-profit director in governing the organisation and how this differs from the for-profit sector.
- Risk and Strategy for the Not-for-Profit Director. Appreciate the director’s role in setting and overseeing strategy whilst monitoring risk.
- Finance for the Not-for-Profit Director. Learn to interpret the major elements of financial statements and the linkages between them to evaluate the financial performance of the organisation.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Examine the duties and responsibilities of directors in Not-for-Profit organisations.
- Outline the role of the regulatory authorities in the Not-for-Profit sector, and compare the role of directors in Not-for-Profit organisations with the role of directors in the commercial sector.
- Explain the role of the board in developing strategy.
- Establish the link between risk and strategy management, risk culture and effective leadership.
- Explain the major elements of the financial statements and the linkages between the financial statements.
- Identify a director’s duties with regard to an organisation’s financial statements and financial reports.
- Discuss the board’s role in improving financial performance.
