The 2024 Queensland Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Induction is fast approaching, with contenders for the top gongs in several of the categories announced ahead of the major event on November 21.

Running since 1995, the annual awards serve to celebrate the achievements of athletes, coaches, officials, administrators, and organisations within the Queensland sporting landscape.

CEO of QSport, Tim Klar, says the 2024 Queensland Sport Awards will be one of the most competitive yet, with an array of outstanding performances at major events—including Paris 2024—included within the judgement period.

“QSport is incredibly proud to host the 2024 Queensland Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Induction and to celebrate the amazing achievements and contributions at all levels of Queensland’s sporting community” said Klar.

“Queensland’s extraordinary talent is reflected across our award categories this year, especially with it being an Olympic and Paralympic year, and we are proud to announce the finalists in several categories, with the remaining finalists to follow.

“We look forward to welcoming the Queensland sporting community to the event, which is sure to be one to remember.”

The prestigious Channel 9 2024 Queensland Athlete of the Year Award will once again be one of the most highly sought-after trophies, with Paris 2024 Olympians and World Champions all in the running.

In the Queensland Government 2024 Queensland Para-athlete of the Year category, eight contenders across five sports will vie for the 2024 title, including several 2024 Paralympic gold medallists.

The Channel 9 2024 Queensland Junior Athlete of the Year award will also be hotly contested, with eight sports—baseball, tennis, AFL, swimming, hockey, basketball, skate, and athletics—represented by ten of Queensland’s best young athletes.

Finalists in the QUT Sport 2024 Queensland Sport Innovation of the Year and Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre 2024 Queensland Sport Event of the Year categories have also been announced, with names of each listed below.
