COVID Update - 8 July
Published Thu 08 Jul 2021
While the lockdown ceased for Brisbane and Moreton Bay at 6pm Saturday 3 July, a range of temporary restrictions have been implemented in response to the evolving COVID-19 situation both here and interstate.
These restrictions will now bring the local government areas of Brisbane and Moreton Bay to the same restrictions currently in place for Ipswich, Logan City, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Townsville (including Magnetic Island) and Palm Island and will apply until 6pm, Friday 16 July.
These restrictions are:
- A mask must be worn at all times when outside your place of residence, including in workplaces (where it is safe to do so), and where you cannot physically distance, on public transport and when doing non-vigorous exercise. Masks are not required while participating in organised sport, but once finished a mask must be put on.
- You must be seated when eating or drinking at a cafe or restaurant.
- All indoor settings occupant density limits determine the number of people permitted in an area
- 1 person per 4 square metres or 100% capacity with ticketed and allocated seating
- 1 person per 2 square metres where floor space is less than 200 square metres up to a maximum of 50 people.
- All indoor and outdoor sport and active recreation activities are required to comply with the COVID Safe Checklist for Impacted Areas and the COVID Safe Event Checklist for events. The Checklists identify how an organisation will keep the community safe and limit the spread of COVID-19. Please note the new requirement for outdoor sport and recreation to complete the COVID Safe Checklist during this current period of restrictions.
In supporting these restrictions it is essential that anyone experiencing any symptoms get tested and stay at home until a negative test result is returned and that the Check-In Qld App is used wherever required.
