Jamie Dwyer was one of the world's great hockey players, and when the Australian Kookaburras enjoyed their greatest moment at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he was the star.

Having battled knee problems in the lead-up to the tournament and seen his team go 1-0 down in the final against the Netherlands, he scored an extra-time goal from a penalty corner to secure the gold medal.

It was the highlight in a career of highlights for the boy from Rockhampton via local club Easts and the Queensland Blades, he played 365 games and scored 243 goals for Australia from 2001-2016...he went to four Olympics for a goal and two silver and was captain in London 2012...won two gold and two silver medals at the World Cup, three Commonwealth Games gold and a staggering six gold in the Champions Trophy.

International Hockey Player of the Year five times from 2004-11 and captain of the World Team in 2008, he was inducted in 2021 into not just the Hockey Australia Hall of Fame but the Sport Australia Hall of Fame. And now a member of the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame...Jamie Dwyer OAM.
