ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the State Manager – Junior Football Operations, this role is responsible for the management, administration and delivery of the Junior competition on the Gold Coast. 

Here at the AFL we have extensive procedures and checks in place to protect children and young people in our organisation. Employment in this position is subject to a satisfactory criminal history record check. The successful candidate is required to possess a valid ‘working with children’ check.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF

  • Manage all aspects of the Junior/Youth Competitions to ensure efficient delivery of all fixtures, grading determinations and finals organisation.
  • Oversee and manage Competition Coordinator
  • Ensure competition ladders and results are maintained
  • Ensure Junior Rules & Regulations and by-laws are implemented across all competitions
  • Management of database and player records including Transfers and Permits
  • General administration duties
  • Appoint independent tribunal and coordinate tribunal hearings as needed
  • Manage and conduct club meetings
  • Manage all functions
  • Maintain competition website with content
  • Prepare and manage budgets in conjunction with State Manager 
  • Develop strong relationships with affiliated clubs 
  • Develop effective working relationships with other departments and staff
  • Assist State Manager with the development of competition structure and operations with short- and long-term initiatives
  • Ensure the State Junior Football Manager is informed and up to date by way of reports and meetings

OUR IDEAL TEAM MEMBER

Mandatory:

  • Tertiary degree in Sports Management or equivalent experience
  • Experience working with Sports TG software, or equivalent
  • Experience in Competition Management or similar role
  • Experience in providing excellent customer service to a diverse customer/club base
  • Knowledge of sporting environments

Desirable:

  • Good understanding of the protocols of community sport organisation
  • Good understanding of the volunteer network in the region
  • Proven ability to effectively and concurrently manage a diverse and extensive portfolio of projects
