Madonna Blyth

Born-and-bred in Brisbane, Madonna Blyth picked up a hockey stick at age fice and kept it close for 25 years, forging a career the equal of any in Australia.

She was a youth international at 15, debuted for Australia at 18 and is our most capped Hockeyroo, playing 342 games and scoring 70 goals in green and gold from 2004-2016, including Olympic Games in 2008-12-16.

She was the national captain from 2009, a three-time gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games and a three-time gold medallist at the Oceania Cup among a host of international successes. 

Never to be forgotten was her gold medal winning penalty against England in the 2014 Commonwealth Games final in Glasgow. 

A leader, a fighter and an inspiration, she was nominated for the International Player of the Year in 2013, she was a World All-Star in 2007-09-10, Player of the Tournament at the prestigious Champions Trophy in 2009 and the winner of 14 medals at elite competition world-wide. 

A stalwart with the Queensland Scorchers, an icon in Australian hockey and now a member of the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame.
