Mr Allan Border AM

Who better than Allan Boarder, an Australian Test cricket captain, to lead out a First 11, an automatic choice as a Queensland sporting legend. 
Best known for his iconic Test career which featured 156 matches, Border was a massive contributor to Queensland cricket from 1980 when he headed north from Sydney. 
He played 98 first-class matches for Queensland scoring 7661 runs for the Bulls at an average of 57.17 and he cherished being part of the Sunshine State’s first Sheffield Shield win in 1994-1995 when he was four months short of his 40th birthday.
After retiring from the game, Border continued to make a contribution off the field. He was a Test selector from 1998 to 2005 and again in 2006. 
He was voted on to the board of directors of Queensland Cricket in 2001 and served as a Cricket Australia director until 2009. He remains a key member of the Board of Queensland Cricket, last year honoured with life membership.
Border amassed 11,174 Test runs – a world record until surpassed by Brian Lara in 2005. He hit 27 Test centuries and retired as Australia’s most capped player and leading runscorer in both Test and one-dayers.
His Australian record for Test match runs stood for 15 years before Ricky Ponting overtook him in 2009, reflected by Australian Cricket’s top individual award annually being named in his honour.
