A sprinter from the Darling Downs who trained on a bush track and left the family farm in 1899 to forge a wonderful international career in which he set world records over 50 yards, 60 yards, 75 yards, 80 yards and 200 yards.
One of nine children, he achieved was known as 'The Crimson Flash', wearing crimson shorts and a singlet to fame in England, Wales, Scotland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. A member of the Sport Australia Hall of Fame.
