A four-time Paralympic swimmer in 1988, 92, 96, 2000 who carried the flag into the Opening Ceremony of the 2000 Paralympics in Sydney after he captained the Australian Team in Atlanta in 1996.
Originally from Gladstone, he won a total of five Paralympic Medals, including gold in Atlanta in the 50m freestyle. Brendan was also a former world champion and world recorder, he lost a leg in a hit and run car accident in 1985 and declared “It’s OK – I only lost one leg”.
Later a biomechanics consultant to the Australian Olympic Team.
