A winger in the Queensland Team of the Century, he played 22 times for his State (1923-30) and four times for Australia (1924-28). An electrifying type, he played first-grade in Charters Towers as a 16-year-old before heading south to join Western Suburbs in 1922, winning a premiership in his first season.

Scored 12 tries in 16 interstate matches, and added 31 tries in 10 games during Queensland’s 1925 tour of New Zealand. He scored Australia’s only try in his Test debut against England in 1924, playing alongside Harold Horder, Tom Gorman and Cec Blinkhorn in a legendary three-quarter line, and did likewise in his second Test five days later.

He was part of an all-Queensland backline that salvaged a 21-11 win at the Brisbane Exhibition Ground. Won a fourth Test jumper in England in 1928 before a serious knee injury terminated his international career.
