A pioneer of the role of the coach in world cricket, he will be remembered as the man who introduced computer analysis to the game. Also masterminded one of the great moments in Queensland sport – the Bulls’ landmark Sheffield Shield success of 1994-95.
After five years as Bulls coach he took charge of the Australian team from 1999-2007, starting with 15 Test wins in a row in Australia’s world-record run of 16 consecutive wins.
He boasted an aggregate Test record of 70 wins, 10 losses and 11 draws and took Australia to the 2003 and ’07 World Cups. He was Queensland Coach of the Year in 1995, 2003 and 2007.
