The ultimate local hero as he hurtled around the chandler Velodrome in 1982 to defend the Commonwealth Games 1000m cycle sprint that he won four years earlier at Edmonton.
A 10-time Australian champion, Tucker retired after the LA Olympics in 1984 and returned home to work as a fireman and train the next generation of cyclists.
