Marcus Ashcroft was a Gold Coast junior AFL star who was a member of the all-conquering Brisbane Lions triple premiership team of 2001-02-03. He was the first Queenslander and the first non-Victorian to play 300 AFL games after beginning his career with the Brisbane Bears.

A prolific midfielder turned resolute defender, he finished top five in the club champion award nine times, played 170 consecutive games from 1992-99, and was never reported. Later he worked in football administration at the Lions and is the inaugural football manager of the Gold Coast AFL club.
