Mark Stockwell was a key member of the famous Mean Machine relay team that won Commonwealth gold and Olympic silver. Stockwell came within a fraction of a second of individual gold in the 100m freestyle at the 1984 LA Olympics. Confounded by an overly excited starter, he still finished strongly to be just touched out by US swimmer Rowdy Gaines.
After his retirement from swimming in 1992, he joined the family business established by his parents Since that time he has been the driving force behind the steady growth and commercial focus of the company
Stockwell was previously the Chairman of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee, having led the Bid through 2010-2011 to win the right to host the Games.
He was appointed Chair of the Australian Sports Foundation and a Member of the Australian Sports Commission Board in June 2014.
