One of the all-time greats of Queensland rugby league, renowned as much for his impeccable reputation off the field as he was for his hardness and competitiveness on it. Shane Webcke was originally from Toowoomba and was regarded as the ultimate team player.

He was the world’s No.1 prop at his peak during a career that spanned 254 games and 25 finals with Brisbane Broncos from 1995-1996. A representative stalwart from 1998-2004, he played 21 State of Origin games for Queensland and 20 Tests for Australia and was a member of the Australian side that won the 2000 World Cup.

He also enjoyed NRL premiership success four times with the Broncos in 1997, 98,00,06 famously playing in the 2000 grand final with a broken arm. Shane won the Broncos Player of the Year Award in 2001-05, and in 2007 was named among the club’s all-time top 20 players as they celebrated 20 years in the NRL. In 2008 he was named among Australia’s all-time top 100 players.
