The only person ever to play rugby for Australia and the British Lions, hence the Tom Richards Trophy that is awarded to the winner of each series between the two countries. Born in Emmavale, NSW, he grew up in Charters Towers and used the game to travel the world. A breakaway, he played three Tests for the Wallabies from 1908-12, and three Test for Great Britain in 1910. Also played at provincial level in South Africa and France.
