Giaan was a member of the Australian swimming team from 1999-2006, winning a Gold Medal in the 4 x 100m medley relay at the 2004 Olympics in Athens after two relay silver medals in Sydney in 2000. From the Gold Coast, she was also a three-times Commonwealth Games representative in 1998, 2002, 06, won the 100m backstroke Commonwealth gold medal in Kuala Lumpur in 1998, plus two silver medals and one bronze medal.
She was the women’s team captain in 1996 and later forged a career in television.
