Nominations Now Open for the 2025 Queensland Sport Awards
The countdown to Queensland’s night of nights in sport has officially begun, with nominations now open for the 2025 Queensland Sport Awards.
From Friday 8 August, Queenslanders can nominate their sport’s top performers, leaders, and contributors across a wide range of categories that reflect the strength and spirit of our sporting state.
Hosted annually by QSport, the Awards recognise the individuals, teams, coaches, officials, volunteers, innovations and organisations who have inspired the state and made outstanding contributions to the sporting landscape over the past 12 months.
QSport Chief Executive Officer Tim Klar said the 30th edition of the Awards event is more than a celebration, it’s a milestone moment for Queensland sport as we look toward the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
“The annual Awards event provides a platform to celebrate our household names and emerging stars, but crucially it also surfaces the extraordinary achievements and contributions from leaders in our communities across the state,” Klar said.
“I love reading the nominations we receive each year to learn more about the breadth and depth of sport’s positive impacts on Queenslanders and their communities. I’m excited to review this year’s nominations and offer the opportunity through the Awards event to recognise the incredible Queenslanders powering our performance, pathway and participation success on the runway to Brisbane 2032.”
Among those celebrated in recent years is Kimberly Doyle, Chair of Special Olympics Queensland and 2024 Queensland Sport Volunteer of the Year.
“I was incredibly honoured to be recognised as 2024 Queensland Sport Volunteer of the Year, gobsmacked actually,” Doyle said. “I give my time week in and week out to make a difference and ensure every person is welcome to experience the joy of sport.”
“My passion is definitely infectious and I share it in every conversation I can creating a belief that belonging is available to everyone. I am living my best life through service to others and I wouldn’t change a thing.”
The 2025 Queensland Sport Awards & Hall of Fame Induction will be held on Thursday 27 November in Brisbane. The evening will also feature the prestigious Queensland Sport Hall of Fame Induction, honouring sporting legends whose legacies continue to shape the future of Queensland sport, and an existing Hall of Fame Member will be elevated to the status of ‘Legend of Queensland Sport’.
Nominations close at 12pm AEST on Friday 3 October 2025, with contenders to be announced later this year.
