From Insight to Action: Key Voices Gather at 2025 QSport Conference
QSport welcomed more than 150 leaders from Queensland’s sport and recreation landscape to the 2025 QSport Conference, providing an opportunity to network and collaborate while sharing and discussing the challenges and opportunities facing sport at this time.
Focused on the theme of ‘Sport Today and Tomorrow’, the day featured thought-provoking conversations on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and technology in sport, navigating the challenges of the increasing cost of grassroots sport and ways to embrace the opportunities for Queensland ahead of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Tim Klar, CEO of QSport said the topics covered in the conference this year highlighted the importance of providing an environment for the Queensland sport industry to come together to share knowledge and voices around key areas of concern and opportunity.
“It’s been an extraordinary day. We’ve had people from all corners of the sporting ecosystem come together for a conversation about sport, as it is right now and the challenges we’re facing, but we’ve also really lifted the lid on what’s coming next and how do we apply some of the solutions that will come out of that emerging work into solving the problems we’ve got now.”
“I’m thrilled with the opportunity we’ve had to talk to a whole range of different people in the conversations today and really looking forward to seeing what happens now and what starts to flow from the work we’ve done today,” he said.
“We have worked with our industry to find out what topics they really want to talk about and brought together speakers and subject matter experts on those topics for the conversations today.
If you want to work and talk with sport or government at all levels or you are working within sport and want to work with commercial or industry partners, the conversations start here at the conference, giving you the opportunity to connect with people and then collaborate with those you have met moving forward.”
Attendee Luke Bates, State Manager and Head of Clubs and Facilities for Queensland & the Northern Territory at Golf Australia presented on a new volunteer program the sport had initiated, sharing their key take outs with the room while also taking the opportunity to learn from others.
“I’ve really enjoyed today’s conference. There are so many interesting speakers which are very relevant to my role and the sport, so you take away little snippets here and there, you get to see what people are doing. It’s really quite interesting because there are some great success stories out there and it’s great to learn and even steal some good ideas.”
