Professor Sarah Kelly presented the inaugural Queensland Sport Oration on the 10th of August 2023. Kelly spoke about the power of sport to build and connect community. About how the culture and experience of sport shapes people and influences the actions they take beyond sport. She summed up the takeaway of her oration,

“Sport is not just sport. Sport is a cultural magnet that resonates for all. It enables social and economic impacts well beyond the field. It's a low-cost, flexible, high impact tool that reaches all.”

She was joined by a panel of talented leaders in the industry...

Maia Tua- Davidson is the Manager of Welcoming Clubs at Welcoming Australia. Nathan Appo is the Deadly Choices Business Development Coordinator and head of National Licenses at Institute for Urban Indigenous Health. Katie Kelly OAM PLY is a Disability & Inclusion Advocate, she Founded est. Sport Access Foundation, she is a 2 time Paralympian and 2 time World Champion ParaTriathlon and she won Gold at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.
