Queensland Hall of Fame Adds More World Champions
They dominated on the world stage and domestically, now five trailblazing athletes will be inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame at this year’s Queensland Sport Awards, with one of the country’s greatest wicketkeepers, Ian Healy AO, also set to be recognised with elevation to ‘Legend of Queensland Sport’ status.
Healy’s iconic career spanning 119 Test matches with 395 dismissals
will be celebrated when he is elevated to the status of ‘Legend’ – the highest honour Queensland Sport can bestow.
Named wicket-keeper in the Australian Cricket Team of the 20th Century, Healy was the heartbeat of an Australian side that dominated world cricket in the 1990s, breaking Rod Marsh’s record for dismissals and going on to set the world mark for years to come.

“I’m thrilled to be recognised for doing my bit for a great state who values sport as I think it should be. All school curriculums need to find new ways to introduce physical activity to the kids of Australia.

Healy will be joined in the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame by former World Number 1 and three-time grand slam tennis champion Ash Barty AO, rugby league brothers Rod and Des Morris OAM, World Cup winning rugby union centre Daniel Herbert and iron-hearted fast bowler Michael Kasprowicz.

including an emotional Australian Open and reigned as world number one for 100 weeks.
“I feel honoured to be inducted into the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame, alongside many of my sporting heroes,” Barty said.
“I have always called Queensland home and feel very proud to have contributed to our state’s sporting success.
“My purpose now is to give back to the next generation of Queenslanders and communities all around our state.”

“It is such an incredible honour, to be recognised among so many incredible legends of Queensland Sport,” Des said.
“To be inducted alongside my brother, Rod is also very special.”rother Rod Morris played 13 games for Queensland, 16 games for Australia and was part of ‘The Invincibles’ in the unbeaten 1982 Ashes tour.
“I am very proud and honoured to be Inducted into QSports Hall of Fame,” Rod said.
Australian fast bowler Michael Kasprowicz
took over 100 test match wickets in the baggy green and a record-breaking 500 scalps for Queensland.
“I am sincerely honoured to receive this award,” Kasprowicz said.
“Having the opportunity to compete in the sport I cherish and live out my dream of representing Queensland and Australia has been an extraordinary privilege.”
The Queensland Sports Hall of Fame recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the sporting landscape of Queensland. This includes athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers who have excelled in their respective fields.
The 2025 Queensland Sport Awards and Hall of Fame Induction will see past and present Queensland stars recognised and celebrated for their achievements and contributions at the Plaza Ballroom at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday November 27, proudly supported by the Queensland Government.
