QSport today acknowledges the significant contribution of Alison Lyons, who will conclude her tenure on the QSport Board after more than six years of service.

During her time with QSport, Alison has provided committed leadership through a period of significant change for Queensland sport. This included supporting the sport sector through the distribution of COVID-19 and the return of organised sport and community participation across the state.

More recently, Alison has helped lead a program of governance renewal for QSport, including work to clarify the organisation’s strategic direction and progress constitutional reform. These changes strengthen the foundations from which QSport can continue to represent, support and advocate for Queensland sport.

Alison Lyons said it had been a privilege to serve QSport and members. “It has been an honour to contribute to an organisation dedicated to strengthening and advocating for sport across Queensland.”

“I am particularly proud of the way QSport worked alongside sporting organisations, government and sector partners through the challenges of the COVID-19 period, and of the progress made more recently to strengthen the organisation’s governance and strategic foundations.

“With this work now substantially complete, I believe this is the appropriate time to conclude my tenure. I leave grateful for the support of my fellow directors, QSport’s team, members, partners and wider Queensland sporting community, and confident in the organisation’s future.”

QSport’s Board thanked Alison for her leadership, commitment and service to the organisation and Queensland sport.

The board has appointed Adam Vanzaten as Acting Chair, effective, immediately, while it undertakes a considered process to appoint QSport’s next Chair. QSport will continue to deliver its strategy and work in partnership with members, sporting organisations, government and sector stakeholders to strengthen sport across Queensland.
