Have Your Say on the Future of Volunteering in Queensland
Volunteering is at the heart of Queensland communities, and nowhere is that more visible than in sport. From coaches and team managers to canteen helpers, scorers, committee members and event marshals, sport simply doesn’t happen without volunteers. Their contribution keeps clubs running, supports young athletes, and strengthens community spirit.
To ensure volunteering across all sectors, including sport, remains strong and sustainable, the Queensland Government is developing a 10‑year volunteering plan. They’re asking Queenslanders to share their experiences and ideas to help shape the future.
Recent initiatives already underway include:
- A new Ministerial Advisory Panel for Volunteering
- A whole‑of‑government Volunteering Working Group
- A $250,000 funding boost to regional volunteer resource centres
- Improved insurance arrangements for disaster volunteers
