Golf's Cameron Smith wins The Courier Mail Channel Seven Queensland Sport Star Award for 2022

Queensland born and bred or based sports stars dominated the Queensland Sport Awards for 2022 presneted at yesterday's Awards/Hall of Fame Presentation in Brisbane.
The 27th annual Awards, held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, saw British Open Gold winner Cameron Smith win to top individual award in The Courier Mail Channel Seven Queensland Sport Star of the Year Award.
Other Awards presented went to
- XXXX Queensland Sport Team of the Year - Queensland Maroons Men's State of Origin (rugby league)
- BCEC Queensland Sport Event of the Year - 2021 NRL Grand Final at Suncorp Stadium (rugby league)
- QUT Sport Queensland Sport Coach of the Year - Dean Boxall (swimming)
- Queensland Government Queensland Sport Athlete with a Disability - Katja Dedekind (swimming)
- The Courier Mail Channel Seven Queensland Junior Sport Star - Flynn Southam (swimming)
- rebel Queensland Junior Sport Team of the Year - South Queensland Under 18 Boys Basketball Team
- Brisbane City Council Queensland Sport Volunteer of the Year - Ann-Marie Warren, Gympie AFL Club President
- Konica Minolta Queensland Sport Officiator of the Year - Aleisha Neumann (hockey)
- Gallagher Queensland Sport Administrator of the Year - Alison Lyons, Hockey QLD CEO
2004 Athen Olympics triple gold medal freestyle swimmer Jodie Henry is the 22nd Legend of Queensland Sport, with Jamie Dwyer (hockey), Laura Geitz (netball), Audrey McLaughlin (softball), Sally Pearson (athletics), late Harry Sunderland and Jonathan Thurston (rugby league) inducted intot the Queensland Sport Hall of Fame.
Queensland Government sponsored Service to Sport Awards went to Irene Bakels Noreen (equestrian), Trevor Barrett (table tennis), Colin Verrall (sailing), late Vicki Warren OAM (softball/hockey) each for outstanding service to their sports and their communities.
Over 660 in the audience witnessed another high-quality presentation of top Queensland sporting achievements past and present.
